For a Isa perspective

Reflections on the book "Free from civilization," Enrico Manicardi.

It is very important that in the libertarian and then hopefully begin to spread elsewhere this political perspective that might be the turning point theory and in practice the maze of current movements of the alternative.

One of the immediate practice is, for example, the choice of vegan, which already represents a big step in the direction of a company from other civilizations and this with a simple everyday person that does not involve expenditure of active choices: not only eat other animals and their derivatives, and from there everything else.
It is not, just as it is written in the book, the absolute consistency, but a simple gesture, effective and economical for ourselves (health), other humans (world hunger, education for nonviolence and respect for others) and the 'environment (deforestation, greenhouse gases, groundwater, etc.)..

The book "Free from civilization"is important but we need the courage to go even further: not by chance Diamond in "Guns, Germs and Steel", speaks of hunter-gatherers, Manicardi of hunter-gatherers, in fact our predecessors for millions of years have been collectors and only if we find our way should be taken into account, because the exploitation and violence on the forms of terrestrial life will never allow even non-human to build a new humanity and a better world.

Governments are not fault tolerant

Discussing the production of energy, happened to me to explain why I think it is preferable a distributed peer to peer system, rather than a central one. In this case, the comparison was between the idea of mass production of energy by large power plants (nuclear, for example), compared with that of the independent production of energy by individual users, using solar or wind power, and the subsequent redistribution of excesses on the common network.
The second system is, in my opinion, largely preferable for two reasons. The first is that the decentralized, distributed and self-managed, allows for greater independence and freedom for users. They will be much less dependent on the will and the administration of a single government agency. The second reason is the fault tolerance. If the network was built in a timely manner, ensuring that the distribution of the energy produced in excess is properly balanced, the fall of a single node is offset by the work of other network nodes. Each node contributes a small part in the production of energy. One could say that it would have little "power" over the whole system, and is instead the contribution of all the nodes to highlight the amount of energy sufficient to power everything you need. Consequently, the fall of a single node, in virtue of its low power and its low influence on the entire system, does not cause the fall and would be compensated by the load balancing.
Who has experience or knows the functioning of the peer to peer networks, will have further confirmation on this way of understanding the networks. There are known cases of networks governed by central servers, which have fallen because of the seizure, the closure of these servers, or elimination of many of the arbitrary content (Napster, various FTP servers and file-sharing Web sites, videos and music ) Or which have serious security problems for your users (ed2k), while they survive better, those of a fully distributed (Kademlia, Gnutella, Freenet, and BitTorrent to a lesser extent). In all these cases, wherever there is a centralization of information and thus power, increases the risk of falling, and with it the risk for all the many people, being deprived of the service.
In all these cases, the importance of fault tolerance, also known as fault tolerance, derived from the assumption that it is not sufficient to ask whether a failure will never happen, and then work to prevent that to happen, but instead to assume that failures occur always the question becomes when and how to save in those cases. The aim is to make a mistake or a fault on a single or isolated groups of nodes, will not spill the entire network and therefore on the users.
From this, we can go a step further and use the same paradigm for observing the organization of society. The central government companies are more similar to a management client-server (client-supplier). More than a centralized government powers, the more totalitarian, and the more it needs to strengthen and protect your core. A large part of resources will be used to maintain sufficient power and running the center of the system. The reason has already been explained, in case of error or failure or drop it, the whole network and individual users in danger of foundering and the interruption of services. Individuals in fact, would be as simple clients, customers exactly, users, consumers of the service, without the possibility of contributing to the system or change it, because they are not "designed", or educated, to do so. From the standpoint of fault tolerance, this type of management is very weak. As written, it is preferable to give some the opportunity to error - humanly natural and inevitable - and design the network of relationships so that it can survive and users in case of failures and errors. It does this by making the users of the peer or peers, who are both users producers. It will tend to equality between them, so that the individual can increase its power. If it happens, too many others to become addicted to them and the network is unbalanced. In case of error or failure, a greater number of people it would harm. This type of organization partly by direct democracy, until you get anarchy. Going in the opposite direction, to a greater accretion of power and influence on the network by individual nodes, it would pass, and then, through a representative democracy, up to the totalitarian governments.
From these ideas, we come to the conclusion that the organization of such government is less and less preferable than direct democracies at least, due to a reduced ability of fault tolerance. :-)

Who saves?

Everyone is scrambling to take an interest and learnedly quibble about who will be at this time of crisis, the successor to Berlusconi as if this was a problem. Of course, this makes it as something far more dangerous than simple market crisis. The purpose of this system does not mean that what they are can be better prepared for the 'humanity. I see that the capitalists, those who hold the wealth, power and especially the control of the means of power (which are always string string weapons, religions and media) are preparing for something that could make no or very little hope.
The signals in this direction are numerous and visible to everyone. Giovanni was born in Bergamo in 1961. A student of a vocational school had done political work in the extra-parliamentary left, after a factory worker in metal industry and trade union activists. In his early twenties comes close to the anarchist movement. Avid reader, reads Malatesta, Berneri, Fabbri, Reclus, etc.. and began to buy books, periodicals, with the intention of creating a small library (which was very proud), which gradually enriched with rare and better targeted purchases, taking care with particular attention to the unions.
Supporter of the Bergamo anarchist group, was one of the founders of the USI of that city, long head of the National Fund and a member of the Executive Committee, participating in many National Congress from 1986 to 2008. Active in volunteer work since 1982 until his death, Giovanni was one of the founders of the cooperative "The Laboratory" Albino (BG), which takes care to include people with disabilities in employment and social issues, teaching them working wrought iron, carpentry, organizing summer camps in Carrara, tapestries and ceramics courses.
